District Passes 1,000 COVID-19 Cases

The Thunder Bay district has now surpassed 1,000 COVID-19 cases.

There are 16 new cases in the Thunder Bay district, including four at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre and three at the District Jail.

There are five who caught it through close contact, one person who had no known exposure, one who travelled outside the region, and two are still under investigation.

There are currently 142 active cases in the district.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says the province is reporting just 745 new cases, but explains the drastic drop is not an accurate picture of Ontario’s COVID-19 situation.

“Please note that Toronto Public Health has now migrated all of their data to the provincial data system, CCM,” Elliott tweeted this morning. “This migration has impacted today’s daily counts, resulting in an underestimation of cases. We anticipate fluctuations in case numbers over the next few days.”
