Hackers Target Debit Card Accounts

Keep an extra eye on your bank account these days, especially if you deal with TD bank.

Somehow hackers have been able to remove money using a person’s debit card number with the name of DoorDash being used as the receipient of the funds.

One person in Thunder Bay who had $104 removed from her account says she never used the food delivery service.

The bank has replaced the lost money.

Reports indicate it only affected TD customers.

TD Bank isssued a statement to our newsroom saying they have conducted an investigation and confirm that over an isolated period, a small percentage of TD Debit cardholders experienced fraudulent activity incurring unauthorized charges from a single merchant.

They have resolved this specific issue with the merchant.

They apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and are actively working with our customers to make reimbursements.
