A portion of a golf course in the city has been transformed into a winter playground.
Owner Mike Komar tells us his Dragon Hills course on Onion Lake Road can now accommodate ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and walking.
“I’ve thought about this for ten years and this seems to be the year to do it.” explains Komar.
He adds the new activities were supposed to be ready for opening about a month ago but Komar says “The weather got so nice and most of the stuff melted.”
The expanse of the golf course has allowed Komar to create a skating track which is 12 football fields long or 1 kilometre while the snowshoeing, cross-country and walking trails are 3 to 5 kilometres long.
The Dragon Hills Winter Wonderland will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11am until 6pm.
The cost is $10 per person or $20 per family.
