LU Launches Global Certificate Program

A more global perspective is the goal of Lakehead University’s new Global Certificate program.
James Aldridge, the Vice Provost of its International department, says it’s a free co-curricular program to give students a variety of skills and knowledge.
“We developed the Lakehead Global Certificate as a program to help reward and incentivize local students for undertaking a number of activities and experiences that help give them more global perspective,” Aldridge says.
He says it’s meant to develop “inter-culturally competent and socially engaged leaders.”
Students can earn points toward the certificate through things like language learning, getting involved with cultural centres, or mentoring international students.
They can achieve one of three levels that the university says will demonstrate commitment to global learning, called Global Inquirer, Global Explorer, and Global Citizen.
