Update: Thunder Bay Sees 24 New Cases

A big jump in COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District as three outbreaks rage on.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports 24 new cases, including eleven in the Valard East-West Tie Project outbreak, five at the Thunder Bay District Jail, and two at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

Another seven people are considered resolved and no longer test positive.

There are currently 92 active cases in the TBDHU area.

Meanwhile, there are an unusually low number of new COVID-19 cases in the province, but the Health Minister says it’s likely because of an error at Toronto Public Health.

Christine Elliott is tweeting that there are probably more cases that haven’t been reported.

Ontario confirmed 1,913 new cases today, a sharp decrease compared with figures over the past few weeks. There are also 46 more deaths from the virus.

Over 34,500 COVID-19 tests were completed yesterday.
