Gardens, Curling Club Getting Upgrades

A pair of city recreation facilities set to receive upgrades.

Council moved Monday to increase the existing 2020 Fort William Gardens capital budget by $851,275, which would equal the combined amount of funding anticipated to be received through both the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) and FedNor.

The money will help improve both the Gardens and Fort William Curling Club to host future events, such as the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts next January.

City staff will submit Stage 2 applications to both FedNor and the NOHFC in April.
