VIDEO: Former Oddfellows Building Comes Down

Wrecking crews are bringing down the former Oddfellows hall.

Demolition of the building started Saturday morning, after the city ordered it brought down once fire destroyed it.

The city says the owner of the building has not taken action to bring the building down, so the city has moved in. City officials add the bill for demolition will be given to the owner, and if he doesn’t pay up, a lien can be registered against the building, leaving it up to the next owner of the property to handle.

The closure of May Street, between George and Donald Streets, will remain until Friday.
