COVID-19 Spreading In Rainy River District

A cluster of COVID-19 cases is growing in the Rainy River area with a new outbreak at a long-term care home.

One case has cropped up at the Rainycrest long-term care home, while the Northwestern Health Unit identified five others in the district.

The NWHU has started tracing who might have come into contact with those people.

Health officials stress the outbreak is no longer contained to the community of Rainy River.

They recommend that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practice preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.

Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.
