Seven Cases In Two Days In Northwest Health Unit Area

A COVID-19 outbreak in the Rainy River District continues.

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting four new positive cases Saturday.

In the last health unit update Wednesday that area was already experiencing six active cases including cases at the Riverview Manor.

It’s not known if any of those have been resolved.

This follows three new cases in the Kenora region Christmas Day.

Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts has started and anyone who is identified will be notified directly.

The health unit recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.

Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.
