Neskantaga Residents Home For Holidays

Some good news for people living at Neskantaga First Nation.

Not only are they home for the holidays after spending time in Thunder Bay, but many have tested negative for COVID-19.

Water problems on the reserve forced them to leave, they returned home about a week ago.

Chief Chris Moonias tells us everyone was tested for the virus, and most of the results are back.

As for the water, it is running again, but a boil water advisory is still in effect.

The chief adds they have two water technicians on hand, with the community receiving further help for another five years.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
