Thunder Bay taxpayers not expected to pay for ripping down of the Odd Fellows building.
Doug Vincent is the Manager of License Enforcement, and tells us if the owner does not pay when the bill is presented to him, the cost will be put as a lien against the building. “Anybody who takes over that property, or wants to pay the taxes on that property, actually would end up paying off the debt on that property first.”
The city spokesperson adds May Street between Donald and George Streets will be closed a few days in mid-January for final demolition.
The building was badly damaged after a fire.
