COVID Outbreak Strikes Learning Centre

COVID-19 has found its way into the Matawa Education and Care Centre on Lilly Street.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports six people associated with the facility have tested positive for the coronavirus.

As a result an outbreak has been declared.

The health unit says “Action was already taken to stop any ongoing spread of the virus in the centre.”

It adds that anyone who may be considered a close contact of someone with the virus has already been contacted by a public health nurse.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
