Food Bank Asking For Cash, Not Food

A reminder from the Thunder Bay Food Bank that they can’t accept food donations right now.

Chair Allison Hill explains they receive their food from the RFDA, which they then distribute to their clients every other week.

“We really prefer that people make monetary donations, if they can send cheques to the Thunder Bay Food Bank at 129 East Miles Street,” she suggests.

Hill says many people seem to be getting the message, but they still get offers to donate food.

“And I call them back and suggest they make those donations to other organizations that are needing food at this time of year and throughout the year, including the RFDA but also Shelter House, the Dew Drop Inn, and the Salvation Army, which make hot meals every day of the year,” she explains.
