Border Cats Hopeful For 2021 Season

We’re just five and a half months away from baseball season.

Both the Thunder Bay Border Cats and Northwoods League remain optimistic about a 2021 campaign as the Border Cats pulled the curtain back on their regular season schedule.

“The first thing we have to see is the re-opening of the United States/Canada border, which will enable us to play a season,” says team Vice President Bryan Graham. “We’ll also have to have discussions with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, the city of Thunder Bay and others as to what the protocols will look like for fans attending our games and how to bring our American born players back to the city in a safe manner.”

The Border Cats are scheduled to open their 18th season at Port Arthur Stadium on Monday, May 31, against the St. Cloud Rox at 7:35 p.m.

  • Eight games is the longest road trip of the season (June 2nd-9th)
  • Ten games marks the longest homestand of the campaign (June 26th-July 5th)
  • Border Cats will engage in a day/night doubleheader on July 14th against the Bismarck Larks
  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago.
