COVID-19 Outbreak At Hospital’s Oncology Unit

There’s an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s 1A Oncology Unit.

The hospital revealed the news via its website Saturday, noting an outbreak is defined as two or more cases among staff or patients, according to Ontario Ministry of Health guidelines.

As for the exact number of cases, the hospital has not stated that.

As a precaution, no one will be allowed into the Oncology Unit until further notice.

The hospital is working alongside the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, in that it is reaching out to anyone who may have been around those diagnosed, and notifying anyone if they are at risk.

Essential care partners will be limited to patients at end of life while the investigation continues.

The hospital remains open.
