Area Mine Hit With COVID Cases

A northwestern Ontario mine is facing a COVID-19 outbreak.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says three people from the Barrick Hemlo, Williams Mine located outside of Marathon have tested positive.

Health officials and the company are assessing whether any other workers were exposed as well as identifying and following up on any contacts outside of the mine.

They add the mine has already undertaken many measures to reduce any spread of the virus at the mine site.
