Ford Clamps Down On Hard Hit COVID Regions

The stark reality of the pandemic in Ontario has forced the hand of the provincial government.

Premier Doug Ford notes with projections of 6,500 COVID-19 cases in the province by mid-December action had to be taken in those regions hardest hit.

“I can reassure you that if I saw 6,500 cases 10 days ago we wouldn’t be out here today saying what we’re saying,” remarked the premier.

On that note, Ford announced, “On the recommendations of our Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Williams and on the advice of our Public Health Measures table we’re updating our COVID-19 framework with new thresholds.”

While the Thunder Bay and Northwestern Health Units will remain in code green, other areas of the province are moving to a higher alert level starting Monday.

Today there were 1,396 coronavirus cases reported in the province.
