DSSAB Receives Unexpected Funding

Some welcome news for the Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board.

Board CAO Bill Bradica tells us they have received $1.8 million dollars from the province in relief funding because of the pandemic, money that they were not expecting.

“We initially had received about $1.1 million back in April and hadn’t anticipated there would be a second phase so this is very helpful,” notes Bradica.

The money will be used to create or renovate housing units, expand rent support programs, and to provide needed supports related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It represents about two percent of the board’s $98 million annual budget.
