Teleco Cup Gets Going In Oliver Paipoonge

The start of the inaugural Teleco Cup in Oliver Paipoonge.

The Superior International Junior Hockey League’s exhibition schedule gets going with the eight game series opener between the Thunder Bay Northstars and Kam River Fighting Walleye.

“Everyone deserves games for a different reason, whether a top player or maybe more of a bubble player so I want everyone to get their reps in. At the end of the day am I taking [these games] seriously? Absolutely, but what I’m more concerned with at this point is getting everyone’s feet under them and [in game action],” says Walleye Head Coach Matt Valley.

Northstars bench boss Rob DeGagne also wants to see the entire roster throughout the weekend.

“We want to see what we have. Definitely some kids that are in a better position to make the team than other kids, [that said] we have to give everyone a fair chance and see what we have,” adds DeGagne.
