Current River Ward Councillor responds to the concerns of the Lakehead Canoe Club.
The group made a plea earlier in the week, wanting help with it’s debt, the future and Boulevard Lake.

“Funding and financial assistance program for non-profits, a program through the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the Resilient Communities Fund. I’m hopeful that they put in to the Community Culture, Youth and Sport Programs funding stream with the city of Thunder Bay,” says Current River councillor Andrew Foulds, when discussing funding options.
Commodore Volker Kromm stresses the future of paddling in Thunder Bay is in jeopardy.
Foulds sympathizes with their concerns.
“My three children have all participated in programs that they’ve put on. There are non-profits across the city that provide outstanding service to community members and they’re all struggling. I’d recommend [to all these groups] to see what opportunities [of funding] there are with the provincial and federal governments,” Foulds adds.
Foulds notes that he and Kromm have had discussions, and he welcomes the opportunity for Kromm to make a presentation to council.
