Lower Electricity Prices End November First

The Ontario Energy Board has set new energy rates for households and small businesses on the Regulated Price Plan.

Starting on November 1, the total bill for a typical residential customer who uses 700 kilowatts per hour will increase by about $2.24-cents or 1.97-percent each month.

That is not all, time-of-use pricing changes November 1st.

Right now it’s a fixed rate of 12.8 cents per kilowatt-hour because of the pandemic.

November will see different pricing, depending on the time of day.

The off-peak rate which is charged from 7 at night to 7 in the morning and weekends falls to 10.5 cents.

The mid-peak, from 11 am to 5 pm on weekday goes to 15 cents per kilowatt-hour.

The higher demand on-peak rate jumps to 21.7 cents per kilowatt-hour.
