Construction Of Sports Dome On Hold

It might not be until next summer before a soccer dome near Golf Links Road is ready.

Goal Sports Centre Two was supposed to be ready this month, but its General Manager Carmen Felice points out he understands why investors pulled out due city council approving the multi-use indoor turf facility. “Investors are not going to… in my eyes, there’s no way I’m going to try and compete with the city, it’s pretty hard. We’re a fairly big city, but we’re nowhere near a Winnipeg.”

The Sports Centre’s GM adds it would be different if there were more players.

He also remains hopeful, adding construction is ready for the base to be built.

“It would be ready to go for foundations, as everything else is done. If the investors look at it and say ‘Maybe we could still do this’, which I would hope they would,” says Felice.

The Centre’s general manager says for now the site will stay as is.
