Rotary Donates $500K To Heart Campaign

A huge donation from the Fort William Rotary Club to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital’s cardiac fund.

The hospital’s Meaghan Sharp acknowledged the club’s $500,000 contribution by saying “On behalf of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and this community I want to say thank you to the Fort William Rotary Club for this phenomenal donation.”

The money comes from the proceeds of the Rotary Club’s house lottery.

Rotary President Cynthia Judge calls the donation one of the club’s greatest commitments.

“I think we can all agree that having local access to health care has always been important to us and the pandemic has made this even more of a priority,” explained Judge.

The Hearts at Home cardiovascular campaign has so far raised over $13 million towards the over $80 million cardiac facility.

It will be an extension of the hospital itself and will allow heart surgery to take place in Thunder Bay.

There is still no date set for a groundbreaking.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
