The Great Outdoors? There’s An App For That

Enjoying nature is more exciting thanks to the WAYfinder app.

Thanks to a number of partners the app is aimed at enabling users to better understand the world we live in.

“In real time (users) are able to take a picture, attach the image and add text on the trail while they’re out experiencing nature” says Owner/Operator Katherine Couzelis.

The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play. Couzelis adds the app was put together to, among other things, improve public awareness of trails and outdoor recreational activities. You might even be tested while you’re out.

“This allows us to ask questions in the form of multiple choice, true or false or short answer, which in turn gives us feedback and for educators to test their students” Couzelis mentions.

Several partners contributed to the development and launch of the app, including the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
