Ribfest Organizers Pleased Despite Pandemic

An estimated $60,000 has been raised through Ribfest in support of Our Kids Count.

The Chair of Thunder Bay’s event, Gladys Berringer, tells us that’s due to the steady stream of vehicles all weekend, and returning sponsors. “A lot of people, when the venue changed, that had traditionally supported us, came on board to help.”

The event Chair adds the 50/50 draws also helped.

“We ended up selling out the first 50/50, and then ran with the second one. So the total there was close to $19,000 just with the 50/50s alone,” says Berringer.

Even though the $60,000 did not reach last year’s total, the Ribfest Chair points out they are very pleased considering COVID-19 almost cancelled the event.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
