Technical Problem Gives False Diagnosis

A correction has been issued by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit concerning the number of COVID-19 cases.

It says a recent test was incorrectly diagnosed as positive, due to a technical issue in the southern Ontario lab which made the initial diagnosis.

The health unit says the original sample was retested, and then again tested another time in Thunder Bay, both coming back negative.

This brings, according to the latest update on the Thunder Bay Health Unit website, the current active cases to one. Of the total 103 cases to date, 101 have recovered, and one person has died.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
