First Nations Schools Need Help: MPP

There’s a request from the NDP critic for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation to the province to provide needed funding for First Nations schools.

The federal government announced $112-million in funding yesterday but it’s not clear how that money will be doled out.

Sol Mamakwa says the money is just a fraction of what’s needed to get kids back in school safely, and prevent outbreaks of COVID-19 in First Nations schools.

The Kiiwetinoong MPP says there’s no more time to waste on the jurisdictional game of ping-pong, stressing education is a treaty obligation in Ontario and Premier Doug Ford needs to stop what he calls a “cruel game.”
