City Councillors were up late making decisions about the turf facility, fire service, 2021 budget, and more.

Here are all the motions passed at Monday’s meeting.

City Council amended the Draft Approval of a Plan for Subdivision for 1294 Dawson Road.

The Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Strategic Master Fire Plan was officially received, and Council is asking Administration to report back to them by December 14th on implementing it.

Council directed consultation to start on the EMS Master Plan, and that the information be presented to them in a report in the next few months.

They forgave $58,071 in taxes, then cancelled, refunded, or reduced $5,130 worth of taxes that resulted from errors. They approved extension agreements for three properties to pay taxes in arrears totalling $47,880. The city okayed the registration and sale of lands for which taxes are over two years in arrears.

The city is directing Administration to aim for a 2% tax levy increase to start off in the 2021 budget, not including $8-million in COVID-19 costs.

Council approved re-opening several facilities with some precautions in place, including the Canada Games Complex, Ogden and Woodcrest Child Care Centres along with private home child care, and Baggage Building Arts Centre.

Council voted to wait until September 21 to look at preparations to reduce Council from 13 to nine members.
