Fire Master Plan Coming To Council

A plan for the city’s fire service now recommends waiting before closing any fire stations.

The new ten-year strategic plan for Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is coming to City Council tonight.

City administration says a lot more consultation is needed before they can decide to close stations, and wants to focus on more short-term recommendations first.

Those include reviewing the fire service’s training programs, and making sure the right services are being efficiently delivered at the right levels.

Council will vote whether to officially receive the report and order administration to bring back a report by December 14th.
