Snowmobile Group Prepares For Season

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is getting an early jump on a new season.

Chief Executive Officer Landon French says they are offering passes earlier this year, starting September 1st.

Riders experienced a shortened season last year as trails were closed in March due to COVID-19.

Permits will cost $190 for Seasonal passes and $150 for a Classic pass if you purchase a permit in the month of September. French says they are also introducing a new app providing snowmobilers with basic trail information and updates through the season.

He adds they are working with provincial health officials to ensure riders can safely hit the trails.

If clubs are forced to close trails because of COVID-19, French says riders who have paid extra to join their Rider Advantage Program can get a discount on the cost of a 2022 permit. For the bonus to apply, any closure would have to occur before February 16, 2021 and continue for the remainder of the season.

Permits are mandatory for recreational snowmobiling on all OFSC trails.
