This week was Belinda Carlisle’s 62nd birthday, not only is she a hit solo artist, she is the singer for The Go Go’s who were a ground breaking band in the 80’s. They were the first all female band to write and sing their own songs to have a number one hit on the charts. They had fans amongst the punks of the 80’s as well as pop listeners of all kind. I read Belinda’s autobiography years ago, and was aware of what she had gone through, but I’ve always wondered about the rest of the band. Showtime has a new documentary on the band that is winning awards and from everything I’ve heard, I cannot wait to hear it myself!! Maybe this year will be the year the band is inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame too!
