55 Plus Volunteers Recognized

Thunder Bay’s 55 Plus Centre is a recipient of the Government of Canada’s Volunteer Awards.

Volunteer spokesperson Tessa Hettrick explains out of 300 nominations, the group has received the Community Leader Award.

“They work very hard and they are a very inspiring group of people so we are extremely excited to have a nationally recognized award for our volunteers to share,” notes Hettrick.

The volunteer coordinator adds she is “So proud to be able to work with” the over 200 volunteers working at the 55 Plus Centre on River Street.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
