Significant Less Rain For July Recorded

If you thought July was hot, it wasn’t the hottest on record.

Environment Canada meteorologist Peter Kimbel points out though this year’s mean temperature for the month was 20.6, two degrees above the normal, the hottest was quite some time ago.

“Temperature was actually hotter in 1921, if you can remember back then, 99 years ago. And then 2012, and 2002, and 1955,” says Kimbel.

He adds the dry and hot July was not just confined to this area. “We had about 59mm of rain, that compares with to the normal of 89, so it was dryer than usual, as it was across the board in the northwest.”

The Environment Canada meteorologist expects the next few days of August will stay pleasant.
