Police Issue Another Scam Warning

The message from city police is, do not get fooled.

They are warning you about the apparent spike in phone scams targeting local numbers.

Police say they have received dozens of complaints about calls from fraudsters claiming to represent the Government of Canada.

In some cases the scammers ask about your social insurance numbers and request you take money from your bank.

Police are also requesting you do not phone 9-1-1 or the non-emergency Thunder Bay Police Service line.

Instead they are asking if you get such a call to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
