Health care workers in northwestern Ontario will be rallying over the next month.
Michael Hurley is the president of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions/Canadian Union of Public Employees and indicates they will be protesting new legislation from the provincial government which they believe suspends many workplace rights.
“By workplace rights I mean the right to notice of layoff, the right not to have your job eliminated, the right not to have your shift changed without any notice say from days to nights,” says Hurley.
He adds what really hurts is this is the same government that called them heroes at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Protests will take place in Thunder Bay on September 1st, in Kenora on August 27th, and the following day in Fort Frances.
There will a total of 22 rallies throughout the province.
