A Golf Tournament With A Twist

It’s a charity golf tournament like Thunder Bay has never seen before.

The Raising the Barr tournament will see a helicopter drop up to 3,000 golf balls on to a putting green. Those golf balls are now available for purchase at a cost of $10 each or 3 for $20 at The Moose and Goose, The Whole Nine Yards, and End of the Roll or online at raisingthebarrgolf.com.

There will be a prize of up to $2,500 for the person whose ball comes closest to the hole.

The tournament is being held in the memory of Dustin Barr who was a golfing enthusiast and who died earlier this year after a seven-year battle with cancer. He would have turned 25 this month.

The tournament takes place on August 14th at Whitewater Golf Club.

Proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Children’s Wish Foundation.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
