Minor Football Eyeing Fall Season

Thunder Bay’s Minor Football Association hopes to return this fall.

Spokesperson Ryan Bliznikas tells us they’ll be watching closely for a second wave and should they have to they’ll take action.

“With our flag football, there’s going to be a lot more games that are able to be played. We think we can get a fairly meaningful season in that short duration of time. But we will assess as things happen,” Bliznikas says.

“We’ll be assessing the risk to obviously our coaches, players and volunteers and look at postponing the season if need be or cancelling it if it is warranted,” Bliznikas goes on to say.

Other regulations being put in place include no celebratory high-fives or handshakes, no spitting, and no sharing water bottles.

The organization is expected to start taking registrations soon for the fall season.

Bliznikas says they’ve been watching other leagues in the western provinces to see how they’ve handled COVID-19 and have already returned to play.
