LUSU Food Bank Continues To Help

Lakehead University’s Student Union is continuing to help students through the pandemic.

Student Outreach Officer Phi Yen tells us students she’s spoken to are touched by the donations.

“They’ve told me that this is a lifesaver when you don’t have a job and there are certain areas where you want to save, and vegetables can be very expensive at times,” Yen says.

The LUSU officer says that with the donations of fresh vegetables they’ve been able to provide healthier meal options.

LUSU has been providing food packages to students struggling through the pandemic and in June they helped 140 students.

Yen adds no donation is too small for LUSU.

“Some people think when they donate something they have to make it big but I don’t see it that way. If you have something in your pantry you aren’t going to use you can give it to LUSU and we will give it to the students,” Yen says.

Other donations you can make to LUSU include personal and menstrual hygiene products.
