Charges Withdrawn In Police Slapping Incident

The city police officer involved in a highly publicized slapping incident has had her charges withdrawn.

The incident happened in December of 2108 at a residence on Egan Street and the video of it was widely circulated on social media.

It involved a 17-year-old girl who was injured and who police say was intoxicated and was being transported to the hospital for treatment.

The constable was charged under the Police Service’s Act with two counts of unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority.

Police say it was resolved through an internal disciplinary process which involves corrective steps to address the officer’s conduct during the incident.
