REMINDER – Thunderstorm Don’ts

We’re getting hammered by a thunderstorms and there’s more action expected. When lightning strikes, safety should come first, even while you’re indoors. This stuff is fairly basic, but always worth a reminder.

Don’t use items while they’re plugged in. Corded phones, computers, cell phones/devices, and video games etc. I know someone who got struck by lightning through their Nintendo back in the day! Sometimes I’ll be absentmindedly on my phone while a storm rages and realize I’m playing Plants vs. Zombies while my phone is charging. Get it together, KEVIN!

Don’t stand near a window or skylight. They may have metal parts that can conduct electricity, or shatter if hail comes.

Doesn’t seem likely you will, but don’t take a nap on a concrete floor, and don’t lean against concrete walls. There’s more-than-likely metal rebar or wire mesh under it which will conduct electricity.

Try not to use the water. Lightning can sneak right in through the pipes and plumbing and zap you while you’re doing the dishes or having a shower/bath. Basically, it’s a great excuse not to do the dishes. Or the laundry. Heck, just to be safe, don’t do any cleaning up at all.

Stay safe, my friends, and enjoy the show!
