Don’t expect the Community Auditorium to open anytime soon.
Although our region goes to stage three this Friday, spokesperson Trevor Hurtig says it’s not feasible to put on a show right now for so few people who are allowed indoors.
“I actually don’t know of any sort of concert where 50 people would pay the bills, unfortunately, there are just too many expenses in putting an event on,” Hurtig says.
The Community Auditorium would house 291 people with physical distancing measures in place but Hurtig says that’s still not enough to make it viable.
“The two-metre distancing takes our capacity done and there’s not a lot of shows that we do of putting only 291 people in,” Hurtig adds.
The Community Auditorium has been using the time during the pandemic to issue refunds, reschedule postpone events and plan for future acts down the road.
