RCMP Probe Puppy Scam

Someone in Nova Scotia thought they were buying a dog online from someone in Thunder Bay…they were wrong.

RCMP say the seller said they would send the golden retriever to the person in the Halifax region by air.

The victim ended up paying a total of $2,800 and when that person was asked for extra money for insurance, that’s when police were called.

An investigation is underway.

Police want people to know that anyone can be a victim of a scam, and it’s important to view all purchases with a critical eye at all times.

At any time, if you feel you are the victim of a scam, or if you want more information about frauds and scams, there are resources that can help:

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
