A change is being proposed to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit to get people working again.
Kenora Conservative MP Eric Melillo explains that right now, the benefit discourages some people to go back to work.
“Soon as you earn up to a certain threshhold you lose all of your CERB benefits so there’s actually a bit of a disincentive there where you people will be penalized for going back to work,” notes Melillo.
What the federal Conservatives are proposing is a CERB top-up, to help make up for any payment gaps going back to work might create.
