Local Legion Hopes For Pop-Up Patio

With legions across Canada struggling one in Thunder Bay hopes to reopen soon.

Les Newman the president of the Port Arthur Branch 5 legion on Van Norman Street suggests there is some light at the end of the pandemic tunnel.

“right now we are exploring all the requirement required to open up a pop-up patio in our parking lot. That will allow us to gather some revenue,” says Newman.

He adds there will be an executive meeting in the next week or so and “There are a lot of questions we have to go through on our own because we want to make sure we do it right.”

The legion official admits the branch has lost a substantial amount of money during the pandemic, but has been able to stay afloat because of loans.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
