Charged Jail Guard Released On Bail

A corrections officer at the District Jail has been released on bail.

38 year old Andy Jason Saindon of Thunder Bay has been formally charged with of breach of trust along with drug trafficking.

After hearing the charges in court today Saindon will be back September.

Police say they began an investigation in April that focused on a suspect who was possibly using their position as a prison guard to bring contraband into the jail for profit.

After searching a locker they discovered what they suspect to be drugs along with $20,000 in cash.

Police also discovered contents which were packaged in a way that they could be concealed during body searches.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
