WATCH: Keep Your Dog Safe in the Heat!

It’s hot, hot, HOT! With heat warnings in the region, I was looking for ways to keep my furry friend cool. I came across veterinarian Dr. Alex’s YouTube page. He has SO MANY great tips and covers a wide variety of subjects. I highly recommend you check it out.

Here are a couple of videos that could come in really handy right now. Dr. Alex tells us how to cool down a dog quickly if they are over-heated, which can be a very dangerous situation. I didn’t know that you SHOULDN’T use cold water to bring their temperature down! It can actually trap the heat in the dog’s body (Dr. Alex explains it much more eloquently.) Tepid or lukewarm water is the way to go.

The short answer to the question in this next video, is YES! Dr. Alex performs a very interesting experiment with a thermometer to show how much hotter the pavement gets than the actual weather. It can really burn your poor pooch’s paws.
