Pandemic Pay Continues To Frustrate Staff

Thunder Bay Hospital’s COVID-19 lead understands the frustration hospital employees are feeling as some are slated to receive pandemic pay while others aren’t.

Dr. Stewart Kennedy says the provincial government should have either given the bump in pay to all or to none.

“I think they made a blunder in one area, that they really can’t dig themselves out of, out of this hole. Having said that, once the province made the decision, we at Thunder Bay Hospital believe it should be extended to all hospital workers,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy says they haven’t received any new information from the province on when that pandemic pay will be reflected on some staff’s paycheques.

The hospital’s COVID-19 lead’s remarks come after a noon-hour rally was held on Friday by staff who were upset they were being excluded from the province’s special pay.
