Consultant To Inspect City Streets

The city’s streets will be getting thoroughly inspected by a consultant this summer.

The City of Thunder Bay’s Project Engineer Mike Vogrig tells us this is done every five years to get an honest look at how bad our roads are.

“Typically we get a successful consultant who will bring a van with some equipment which will measure the roughness of the road and the different road defects such as cracking and potholes in order to rate the road system,” explains Vogrig.

He adds the results will then become part of the city’s Pavement Management System which then classifies the roads along with the different repair options.

Once chosen, the consultant is expected to begin the job in August and results are expected before the end of the year.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
