The testing has been completed at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre of those who came into contact with a doctor at the hospital who tested positive for the coronavirus.
Dr. Stewart Kennedy tells us results so far are encouraging.
“We’ve done over 140 tests of the contact patients as well as affected staff. We have 20 results back and they are all negative,” notes the hospital’s COVID-19 incident manager.
Dr. Kennedy hopes to have all the results back from the testing by tomorrow.
He says they also tested “well over 500 health care workers” at the hospital who are not related to the exposure but just as a precautionary measure recommended by Ontario Health North.
The doctor was found to have the coronavirus on the weekend after several days of working at the hospital. He went into immediate self-isolation.
