Using food colouring.

What you will need:
Squeeze Bottle(s) *an old water bottle / ketchup container will do the trick
Food Colouring
Water
White Cotton Shirt
Elastics
Measuring Cup
Plastic Bag
Step 1
To make dye with food colouring, fill your squeeze bottle with no more than 1/2 cup of water and approximately 16 – 20 drops of food colouring. Use a different squeeze bottle for each color of tie dye you make. Set aside
Step 2
On a clean surface unfold your white cotton shirt and position it so it is laying flat in front of you. Twist the shirt so it coils into itself pinching it from the middle in a clockwise motion.
Step 3
Depending on the size of the shirt you are working with you are going to use approximately 4-8 rubber band around the circumference of the coiled shirt in a star pattern. Ensure to wrap the rubber bands twice around the shirt so it doesn’t come undone. Tip: 8 Tie-Dye Patterns and Step-By-Step Instructions
Step 4
In the sink or outside begin squirting on the food colouring solution onto your shirt. Tip: If the shirt is not absorbing the food colouring solution add a little bit of water to the coiled shirt.
Step 5
To avoid getting food colouring all over yourself use the plastic bag to transport your t-shirt. Some have left their creations in plastic bags to dry but I hung ours on the back of a chair outside overnight and it worked out.

NOTE: We did not wash our shirts prior to wearing.
DISCLAIMER: Food colouring dye may stain .
